Description

Cisco Prime Data Center Manager is the single pane of glass solution for the Nexus data center solution for both Local Area Network and Storage Area Network management and configuration. The course will cover the implementation of Cisco DCNM-SAN to enable the student to configure, monitor, and troubleshoot the data center Storage Area Network infrastructure. It provides an explanation of the Local Area Network and Storage Area Network control of the unified data center so that the attendee can optimize the data center to meet service-level agreements. The course will provide a hands-on experience, focused on how to install and use DCNM-SAN, discover data center resources, use diagnostics tools to troubleshoot the network, monitor the events, resource management and provisioning tools and templates to configure the network. Lab activity will provide for installation of the DCNM-SAN Clients, Web Client SAN Client and Device Manager and that DCNM-SAN delivers the expected visibility and benefits based on DCNM version 7.2(3).

To participate in the hands-on labs in this class, you need to bring a laptop computer with the following:

  • We recommend using at least a Pentium 4 or better and 1 GB of RAM or more.
  • We recommend running Windows XP Professional SP3 or greater (Vista & Windows 7/8).
    Mac & Linux machines are also supported.
  • Browser Requirements: Internet Explorer 10 or greater or Mozilla Firefox. (Safari and Mozilla Firefox for Mac OSX)
  • All students are required to have administrator rights to their PCs and cannot be logged in to a domain using any Group Policies that will limit their machine's capabilities.
  • If you do not have administrator rights to your PC, you at least need permissions to download, install, and run Cisco Any Connect Client.
  • If you are participating in a WebEx event, it is highly recommended to take this class at a location that has bandwidth speeds at a minimum of 1 Mbps bandwidth speeds.

Objectives

This course is designed for storage and local area network managers that are getting involved with FCoE (Fibre Channel over Ethernet), systems and field engineers, consulting engineers, technical solutions architects, and Cisco integrators and partners who install, implement, and manage the Cisco MDS/Nexus family of data center switches.

Prerequisites

  • The student should have an understanding of Local Area Networking protocols and technologies in general
  • Good understanding of Cisco MDS Storage Area Networking, including VSANs, Aliases, Interfaces and Zoneng
  • Recommended that the student has an understanding of Command Line Interface configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Cisco MDS/Nexus switching equipment
