CCIE Routing and Switching Boot Camp (CIERS1) v5.0 is a 5-day instructor led course with instructor led lessons and hands-on labs. Also, there is troubleshooting on specific topics and assessment labs, including instructor feedback to provide student mentoring and support.

Course Delivery Method:
This boot camp is approximately 60% lecture and 40% hands-on labs.

The instructor uses a combination of "Chalk talk" and "one on one mentoring", the instructor will NOT use an overhead projector. The instructor uses a traditional method of teaching where the subjects are taught and NOT lectured.

The classroom material and hardware are based on current CCIE Routing and Switching v5 Blueprint.

Boot Camp Hours: 

The duration of this boot camp is 5 days, running extended hours most days.
Monday thru Thursday 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM
Friday 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM

 

What the Students Get:

 

  • Upon registration, the students will receive an E-COPY of "The Foundation 5.0" work book written by Narbik Kocharians to prepare for the Boot Camp. The students should complete the "The Foundation 5.0" work book before attending the boot camp. If you cancel your registration for the class after receiving your e-copy of the "The Foundation 5.0" work book, you will be liable for a minimum of $100.00 for the work book.
  • On the first day of the boot camp the students will receive the following:
    • Cisco's 360 Routing and Switching v.5 Courseware, web portal, and Lab Guide.
    • During the Boot Camp, the students will receive the "Advanced CCIE Routing and Switching 5.0 Work Book", which is also written by Narbik Kocharians.

Upon completion of this course, learners should be able to perform the necessary and invariant configuration and troubleshooting steps for the following key Cisco CCIE Routing and Switching v5 technologies:

  • Layer 2 Technologies
  • Layer 3 Technologies
  • VPN Technologies
  • Infrastructure Security
  • Infrastructure Services

Prerequisites:

The knowledge and skills that a learner must have before attending this course are these advanced-level competencies (knowledge and skills):

  • CCNP + certification or equivalent knowledge

It is strongly suggested that the learner had passed the CCIE Routing and Switching written exam.

The primary audience for this course is:

  • Candidates that need to acquire their CCIE Routing and Switching certificate.
  • Network engineers/designers that need to raise their knowledge to an expert-level.

 

Outline:

Day 1:

  • Lecture:
    • DMVPN (GRE, mGRE, and NHRP)
  • Lab:
    • First Fully graded Assessment Lab (6 Hours) Based on Version 5.0
  • Lecture:
    • Port Security, DHCP Snooping, IP Source-Guard, DAI and ARP ACL, Private VLANs
    • VLAN Access-maps and Storm Control

Day 2:

  • Lecture:
    • OSPF
  • Lab:
    • OSPF Labs
  • Lecture:
    • EIGRP

*Class hours: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM or later.

Day 3:

  • Lecture:
    • BGP
  • Lab:
    • BGP Labs
  • Lecture:
    • MPLS and L3VPNs

*Class hours: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM or later.

Day 4:

  • Lecture:
    • QoS - CoS, IP Prec, DSCP mappings, Classification (NBAR), Marking, Policing, Shaping
    • Queuing, CBWRED
    • IPv6 € Addressing, SLAAC, DHCPv6, Both, Prefix Delegation, Redundancy using IPv6 RS/RA
    • RA Guard, ND Inspection/Snooping, IPv6 FHRP, IPv6 Filtering, NAT-PT (Static and Dynamic)
    • EIGRPv6, OSPFv3, IPv6 and BGP.
  • Lab:
    • Second Fully graded Assessment Lab which is a combination of two hours of Troubleshooting (30 routers per students emulating the real lab format for Version 5.0), followed by 6 hours of Configuration.
